Los objetos en el salón
Le vocabulaire du salon : canapé, fauteuil, tableau, lampe. Avec la différence el sillón / la silla, le coussin el almohadón (vs la almohada du lit), et les deux mots pour la bibliothèque (biblioteca / librería).

Le vocabulaire du salon
Deuxième pièce : le salon, el salón. Canapés, fauteuils, tableaux, lampes.
Trois distinctions à retenir
el sillón/la silla: el sillón est le fauteuil (une grande chaise) ; la silla, la chaise simple.
el almohadón/la almohada: el almohadón est le coussin (du salon) ; la almohada, l’oreiller (du lit).
la biblioteca/la librería: les deux désignent la bibliothèque-meuble. Mais attention, la librería veut aussi dire librairie (magasin), et la biblioteca aussi bibliothèque (lieu public).
Un lien de mémoire
el cuadro (le tableau) vient de cuadrado (carré) : un tableau est un objet carré ou rectangulaire. Son cadre, c’est el marco.
Le reste
el sofá (le canapé, accent sur le a), el reposabrazos (l’accoudoir), la alfombra (le tapis), la planta (la plante), el taburete (le tabouret), la repisa / el estante (l’étagère), la lámpara (la lampe), la pared (le mur, pluriel las paredes).
Mi salón es bastante grande. Hay dos sofás, una tele y tres bibliotecas. Tengo muchas plantas y, en las paredes, varios cuadros.

Hola a todos. Today we continue with the rooms: the living room, el salón, and its objects, los objetos en el salón. Lots of vocabulary again.
El sofá, the sofa: the accent falls on the A, el sofá. El sillón, the armchair: the chair is la silla; el sillón is a bigger chair. El reposabrazos, the armrest (los brazos, the arms; reposar, to rest). El almohadón, the cushion (H silent): the living room cushion; the bed pillow is la almohada. La televisión, or la tele. El reproductor de DVD. La alfombra, the carpet. La planta, the plant; las plantas. Las decoraciones, the decorations. El cuadro, the painting: like cuadrado (square), a painting is a squared object. El marco, the frame: el marco del cuadro. El taburete, the stool. La repisa, another word for shelf; we saw el estante in the kitchen; no real difference. La lámpara, the lamp. La biblioteca or la librería, the bookcase: both from libro; note la librería is also the bookstore, la biblioteca also the public library.
Exercise: describe tu salón. My answer: Mi salón es bastante grande. Hay dos sofás, una tele y la estantería. Tengo tres bibliotecas. Tengo muchas plantas. Y en las paredes, hay varios cuadros. La pared, the wall; las paredes; varios, several.
